Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I started playing Mountain Dulcimer in 1990 then teaching and performing with it in 1991. I became a Certifed Music Practitioner in 2001.
What is your primary product or service?
As a Certifed Music Practitioner I play harp music at the bedside of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and private homes. I also perform traditional style music and original songs on guitar, mountain and hammered dulcimer and play the spoons at historical villages and museums, dulcimer festivals across the northeast, meetings, clubs, libraries or any event that needs music.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I started playing guitar for my children then heard someone play the mountain dulcimer at the Ocean County Folk Festival and fell in love with the instrument. From the moment I got my first dulcimer my career started.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
There is alot of Great music in this area, but not too many dulcimer players/teachers. I try to keep my music in the traditional style.
Which areas do you service?
As a traveling musician I mostly stay in the northeast but do occasionally travel to dulcimer festivals in other locations.
